G-FIX RESIN SYSTEM FOR AGGREGATE BINDING.
Suitable for laying over concrete and macadam bases that are dry, clean and dust
free. A primer/sealer coat on concrete is strongly recommended spread at 4 sq.
m. per litre.
Allow a freshly laid base to age four weeks before priming.
GENERAL GUIDE.
Maximum stone size is 10 mm and laid to a minimum depth of 15 mm.
1.5 kilos G-FIX to 25 kilos aggregate is a 6% ratio mix which may be adjusted
either way to accept hard granite or flinty types (less) or more absorbent
bauxites etc. which may require around 8% or so. Trial out first to determine.
A typical mix would be say 2 x 25k bags aggregate in a bell mixer to which 3
kilos
of thoroughly blended G-FIX is added. When fully wetted promptly barrow out for
raking, tamping and floating as required. Use white spirit sparingly on tools to
minimise sticking.
Topcoat with G-FIX the complete surface at 3 to 4 sq. m. per
kilo paying particular attention to areas of potential heavy/repeat use. Setting
times vary between a half to two and a half hours normally dependent on ambient
and material temperatures. In general terms warmer conditions=faster hardening.
Do not subject to harsh use during the first seven days while the resin fully
cures.
Note.
Certain types of porous gravels particularly sandstones are unsuitable for
binding but work well in a scattercoat system.
FORMULA for estimating quantities (approx):
AREA in sq.m. X DEPTH laid in mm = LITRES of resin/aggregate matrix.
divide LITRES by 10 for KILOS of G-FIX.
multiply LITRES by 1.6 for KILOS of AGGREGATE.
Plus topcoat of G-FIX according to area at 3 to 4 sq. m. per kilo.
EXAMPLE:
To cover an area 3m x 10m at 25mm depth = 750 litres total
= 1200 kilos aggregate
= 75 kilos G-FIX
plus 10 kilos G-FIX for topcoat.
